^ 5 New Year Style Resolutions to try in 2025
Happy New Year!
I find there is always something refreshing about the start of a new year! A chance to review and take stock about what would we like to achieve, change, continue over the next 12 months.
If you are feeling that this is the year you want to feel more confident about your style and start getting to grips with your wardrobe then I have a few suggestions for some New Year Style Resolutions you could try. Think of these as a starting point to make some small tweaks and changes which can make all the difference! Remember that spending some time on yourself is not selfish - it is self care!
This New Year I intend to -
Declutter and review my style -
Before making any changes it is important to take stock of where you are at this moment. Ask yourself some questions such as -
What do you enjoy wearing ?
Which pieces are you not wearing from your wardrobe. Why is that?
Whose style do you admire?
Is there anything new you would like to try this year?
These are all important things to note down. To feel happy with your style and confident in your skin you need to weed out those wardrobe items you no longer love, which are not flattering or which are damaged. Do a wardrobe edit (see my post on doing a wardrobe MOT for an easy process to follow) or how about investing in a professional wardrobe edit?
Identifying what you love and what suits you is valuable and prevents you from impulse buying and overspending. Make this year your year to love yourself and your style!
Plan my daily outfits
Pledge to organise your weekly outfits in advance. This will save you so much time everyday and make daily dressing stress free. PLUS you will wear more of your wardrobe because you will be consciously putting together outfits. Put an hour aside every Sunday, check your diary and see what you have planned for the week and select outfits accordingly. My days of the week hanger tabs make this process even easier - simply hang your daily outfits at the front of your wardrobe using the special hanger tabs. Order via my Etsy shop - link on my home page.
Add accessories to my outfits
Accessories add extra polish to an outfit and are the key to dressing well yet they so often get overlooked. Make it a rule to add at least one accessory to your daily outfits. A pair of earrings, a belt, a ring, a scarf. Most clients I see for wardrobe edits have at least one jewellery box filled with lovely pieces which hardly ever get worn. Have fun digging out those treasures!
Think about adding print and/or colour to my outfits
The winter months can feel incredibly long and its really common to feel blue at this time. Adding a little bit of print or colour to your outfit is a real mood booster for yourself and also to those around you! Start small if you feel nervous with a leopard print or bright coloured bag, scarf, belt or you could even try a bright lipstick.
Restyle and rewear my wardrobe more
A wardrobe edit always involves putting together new outfits for a client with clothes and accessories they already own. It is always great fun and amazing just how many fresh looks we can create.
Tips to help you try this for yourself -
Take something you have only worn for a special occasion and dress it down for everyday. E.g. pair trainers and a jumper with a fancy frock, statement shoes with jeans, dressy jackets with jeans. A fabulous statement piece of jewellery with an everyday outfit.
Experiment with layering roll necks and long sleeved t shirts under dresses and blouses
Try wearing blouses and shirts open as jackets
Try belting a cardigan over a skirt
Wear a blazer as a top.
Creating more outfits with what you already own will save you money and is more sustainable too.

And finally…
I promise I will never be afraid to dress up and show up. I do not need a special occasion. I am the occasion!
I will wear clothes that bring me joy!
