^ 3 Ways to wear a preloved sequin jacket - Rewear and Re-style this festive season

Party season is fast approaching and as the shops fill up with glam and glitzy pieces it’s so easy to get carried away isn’t it?!

Remember that the festive period is short lived so save your purse your sanity and the planet - don’t purchase lots of one hit wonders which you will want to discard when January rolls around. Do you really need a new outfit for every party/occasion?

On the other hand it is nice to treat ourselves at this time of year so my advice would be to pick one versatile piece that you can rewear and re-style in many different ways and for numerous parties! Do make charity shops your first port of call. They always have a huge selection, many items unworn and you’ll be donating to a good cause too.

Some suggestions for pieces to look out for -

  • Sequin/sparkly/velvet blazers (above I have styled a black sequin blazer from one of my favourite charity shops The Dogs Trust 3 different ways) Wear it with your jeans, a t-shirt and heels for laid back glamour, pop it over a slip dress for old fashioned vibes or pair it with a skirt and vest top and heels. It will jazz up so many pieces in my wardrobe! I will also wear it with my black trousers and a coloured camisole top and heels. I am sorted for a few parties with a few outfit tweaks!

  • Pleather pieces - skirts, trousers these always look super stylish with a t-shirt and layered jewellery and boots or heels. Plus wear with your favourite knitwear afterwards

  • Satin slip dresses and skirts - these have been in favour for a few years and look gorgeous with heels for a party

  • Chiffon dresses/skirts/tulle skirts you can often find these second hand and again they are great with knitwear in the new year.

  • Waistcoats - still having a moment and loads available second hand. So sexy worn as a top with your jeans and heels and jewellery.

  • Also look out for accessories to jazz up clothes you already own such as beaded and metallic shoes and bags, broaches, statement necklaces and rings and shoes.

Set some time aside to play around with your wardrobe. Once you have your new party piece, take pictures of different combinations that way you will avoid any stressful ‘nothing to wear’ moments - always a bonus during this super busy time!

I hope I have persuaded you that re-wearing and restyling this party season is the way to go!
