How to buy better and enjoy your wardrobe more!
Can you relate to Eddie?! Do you open your wardrobe to see a mountain of clothes - so much choice yet you don’t know where to start or you feel like you don’t even like anything??
Don’t panic there is a way to achieve a wardrobe which brings you joy - full of ‘nice things’ that you actually want to wear! Here are a few tips to get started
1 Start by having a look through and seeing what you can clear from your wardrobe. Read my post ‘5 things to let go from your wardrobe today’ This will free up space for some new purchases!
2 Are you missing or do you need to replace any basic items such as t-shirts, jeans, jumpers? Make a list so you can shop with purpose. It is worth getting these building blocks in place before you look at adding more statement items.
3 Do you need to update your wardrobe for the new season? Do your research on Instagram, Pinterest, Fashion magazines what are the trends and what do you like? What would fit in with your style?
4 Before you buy a new item consider if you can wear it at last 3 different ways with items you already own. That way you know you will make good use of it!
5 Are you sure of your measurements and sizes? Make sure you are buying well fitting clothes. It is worth getting a bra fitting if you haven’t for a while. Clothes hang so much better when you are wearing well fitting underwear. Measure your waist and know your leg length. Sizes may vary in shops but if you know your body you can cut out alot of wasted time trying things on or buying things which are not going to fit you.
6 Choose quality over quantity. One great dress that’s a bit pricier will bring you more joy than 3 cheap ones. Buy from local or small businesses where you can. It’s great to support them and you can find more unique items. Don’t forget charity and preloved boutiques too. They often have designer brands and you’ll be giving a new home to an item which might have ended up in landfill.
